KARA HARLOW LMHC
"I am not what happened to me.
I am what I choose to become."
-Carl Jung
Life presents us with many obstacles and challenges and sometimes despite our best efforts we end up getting "stuck". Often the process of getting "unstuck" is not always as easy or clear. In our work together we will explore patterns and choices that contribute to your accomplishments and struggles. We will work towards self-awareness while remaining solution-focused, and will use the strengths you already possess to build more skills for managing the challenges that life brings.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
I specialize in working with older adolescents and adults around a variety of issues including life transitions, relationship development, depression, anxiety, trauma and addiction. With a genuine, empathic and down to earth style of therapy we can work towards your goals of feeling happier, healthier and more empowered.
I use an evidence based and integrative approach to psychotherapy that includes skills-focused therapy such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in combination with a psychodynamic and insight-oriented lens.
I find that my clients value my approach of being sincere, candid and using humor whenever applicable. I respect the strength it takes to enter into therapy and value the importance of creating a safe and comfortable space to support this process.

ABOUT KARA
I have been in the field of therapy for over 15 years and currently have a practice in both Cambridge (Harvard Square) and Concord, Massachusetts. Prior to private practice I had experience working in a substance abuse treatment center treating individuals suffering from addiction and a variety of other disorders.

I have 3 young kids who I adore and who exhaust me, and I like to recharge through arts and crafts, putting things in my amazon shopping cart that I never buy, and attending yoga class once a year.
